  • Who’s ready for BETA Update 4? You? How about you? Ok, you? No? My mistake…

Some big-time effort went into this update, especially the Phillies throwbacks, which required me to build yet another set of secret templates, so keep those checks coming and make sure they’re made out to DR. MONEY CASH. Anything less than $99.50 would be a slap to my girlfriend’s face…

    Here’s whats in Update 4:

Nationals — Re-done in new templates

Mets — Re-did the black alternates in new templates, fixed chest scripts

Phillies — Re-done in new templates, added 70s home and road throwbacks

Richmond Braves — Added home and road

Tampa Yankees — Added home and road

Sacramento River Cats — Added home and road

Mississippi Braves — Added home and road

Pawtuckett Red Sox — Added home and road

Palm Beach Cardinals — Added home, road, and home alternate

St. Lucie Mets — Added home and road

Vero Beach Dodgers — Added home and road

Dunedin Blue Jays — Added home and road

Reading Phillies — Added home and road

  • Big day today. An all Padre day. You would have thought it was Spanish father’s day with the amount of San Diego uniform work I did today. The Padres got a big-time throwback makeover, so all you San Diegans (or is it San Diego-ites? San Diego-uns? San Dieg-ons?) can write me a big fat check for $32.50, ’cause I deserve it.

Including San Diego, here are the teams that are included in Update 3:

Rays — Names fixed on 2008 uniforms, added 1998 throwback uniform

Rockies — Re-done in new templates, added 1999 ‘Turn Ahead the Clock‘ uniform

Padres — Re-done in new templates (including throwback uniforms), new chest/script logos, added 1980s throwback uniform, 2001 throwback uniform

Baltimore — Re-done in new templates

Blue Jays — Re-done in new templates

Diamondbacks — Re-done in new templates

  • So what do I do after releasing a big giant BETA pack full of uniforms? Release an update two days later of course… I’ve also added my name to the Wikipedia entry for anal retentive.

Now I know what you’re saying, you’re saying “Hey Goober, why the hey would you release an update so soon?” Well first off, you’re talking to a computer screen. Second, did you not read the first sentence? I’m WAY NERDY when it comes to uniforms. I’m continually working on uniforms. So last night I was sleeping, right, and I was having this dream that I was on the computer working on uniforms, but then I suddenly woke up and realized… I was on the computer working on uniforms. So this is the first of what will probably be several BETA updates. Since I’m continually working, this is a much better idea for all of you rather than having to download the entire BETA every time I finish a few more uniforms.

New items included in BETA Update 1:

Twins — Re-done in new templates

Red Sox — Re-done in new templates

Yankees — Re-done in new templates, added 1950s era throwback uniform

Devil Rays — Name issue fixed

Blue Jays — Powder blue alternate converted to modern slot, throwback numbers fixed, added 2003 throwback uniform

Dodgers — Re-done in new templates, added spring uniform

Reds — Re-done in new templates

Braves — Added 1970s and 1940s era throwback uniforms

As always, you can find the update in the ‘downloads’ section. Now go install it, play with it, and send me a check for $13.50.

  • So tonight was a great uniform night, just dandy. It started off with some good work on the Blue Jays; I finally got that damn team organized. So many different uniform combinations that I had to shuffle around, so to make it work I ended up creating a 2000’s era throwback to fill the spot of the old powder blue throwback, which is now a modern home alternate. After that came some work on the Reds and Dodgers uniforms, which are now all in the new template style.

Finally, to cap off the night I thought I’d have some real fun. After surfing around the internets the other day, I came across this little gem of a jersey. Apparently it’s a 1947 Warren Spahn satin jersey. There was a phase back then when some teams tried out satin uniforms, I believe because Hitler was a known satin-hound and since his famed satin yards had been raided a few years earlier after the end of WWII, the market price of satin fell to five buttons a bindle.

Anygay, I loved the look of the jersey so much that I thought to myself, “Hey Jesse, why not spend a few hours re-creating this jersey for a PC baseball video game?” That’s the natural heterosexual male reaction, right? Regardless, here’s what I came up with…

You can check out the final product in-game by following the gallery link at the top, or by viewing the ‘recent images’ on the right-hand side.

I’d also like to thank Homer for sticking around with me late at night and yelling at me every time he spotted an inaccuracy with this uniform. I kept uploading preview pictures over on the EAmods forums and he kept shooting back with replies about how I’d missed this, or done this wrong, or offended him somehow. If it weren’t for him, I’d have gone to bed long, long ago… thanks Homey.
