The Spungo Blog

Yeah, I’m still at it…

The offseason can be rough, especially being a Royals fan. The one thing that gets me through it, though, are all the new uniform and logo unveilings that take place. A few have occurred already, but many more await.

In the meantime, here’s a list of new and revamped uniforms to be released in my first 2010 update:

The first PLUS update will be available sometime around spring training, more than likely the first week. Expect a new donation link for 2010 to go live around the same time.

Pricing structure may change slightly, compared to last year, with a new “lifetime subscriber” option, similar to what MVPmods.com has done. If you have any thoughts on the PLUS/STANDARD updates and donation amounts, leave your ideas in the replies.

2009 Uniforms PLUS v4.3

Alright, the final uniform update for 2009 has been emailed to all the donors. If you don’t have the latest and greatest update, get it now before the dark days of the offseason settle in…

Final 2009 Update

The final update for my 2009 uniform set will be coming soon, and it’s a big one to end the season. There are 37 brand new uniforms, and on top of that numerous updates were made to older uniforms, so now all but a few uniforms have now been redone in my higher resolution templates. The Progress page has also been updated to reflect these changes, so head over there to see if your organization received some new uniforms.

This final update consisted solely of minor league work, including several teams I’ve never included before, new alternate jerseys, special one-night-only jerseys, and authentic road uniforms for teams that previously only had a colored alternate as their primary road set.

So enjoy this final 2009 release — new uniforms for next season will begin to be unveiled after the World Series, so you can count on me being hard at work over the offseason to get those made.

Thanks for everyone’s support this year and for everyone else’s opposition and disapproval…

Well that’s a big number…

Let’s all pretend for a second that everyone/anyone (someone?) reading this checks the progress page routinely. It’s a little tab up top there, and on the page contains the full list of completed uniforms, updated every week. Well, if you have been checking, you may have noticed I’m getting pretty close to a really big number…

600

The list currently stands at 599, and if I may say so myself, that just shows how much of my life I’ve wasted away making these tiny uniforms for that PC baseball video game. Or, it shows that I am extremely awesome. Your call.

So in anticipation of hitting this completely arbitrary, yet spectacular number, I’m going to let everyone out there decide what uniform #600 should be. Once we get a bunch of suggestions, I’ll pick the best few and I’ll put it to a vote. To make your suggestion, follow the link below:

Still hard at work…

Problems with the EAmods server have prevented me from updating the blog more and posting some preview pictures as proof, but you’ll just have to trust that I’ve been hard at work adding new uniforms and updating older ones.

The Progress page is updated the second I finish a new uniform, so skimming through that every few days will update you on what’s been going on over here (it’s a lot to sort through, I know — you try organizing all this junk).

Big additions have been the work on the minor leagues, including the addition of four uniforms for the Indianapolis Indians and two for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. The Cubs and Mets have undergone a major uniform renovation, with each slot now filled up with a uniform — about 10 new uniforms between the two teams have been added. The Nationals, Marlins, Cardinals, Reds, and Red Sox have also been heavily renovated (the Red Sox, especially, have a real nice set of uniforms now).

Those are just a few highlights I can think of at the moment. Bottom line is, this will be the biggest update in a long time — if you’re still playing this game then you’ll want this update, for sure…

Infomercial…

There are so many more registered users here on the blarg than there are donors — what up with that? For all you people who visit regularly but aren’t receiving the Plus uniform updates, here’s yet another example of what you’re missing:

In addition to the over 540 uniforms already included in my updates, I have extra uniforms for nearly every team that I’m in the process of finding a way to release. Call them the b-sides if you will, some uniforms have been sitting unreleased for over a year and new ones are being created every week. And as always, donors will be the first and only people to get access to these uniforms, so if you haven’t donated yet, now’s a great time to get started…

2009 Uniforms v4.2 PLUS

v4.2 Plus has just been emailed to all subscribers, so if you’re not a member — what are you waiting for? Don’t miss out on any more Plus updates, donate and receive hundreds of uniforms not included in the Standard update.

As promised, v4.2 Plus is a big update. All major league teams now have player-specific 2009 equipment, which looks especially sharp this year I think. Also included are a ton of throwback and authentic retro uniforms for nearly every team. As always, you can see the full list of uniforms included on the Progress page.

Over the course of the next few weeks I’ll try and start posting some of the cooler uniforms that are included in the Plus updates this year — each new release just keeps getting better and better. And again, if you’re not receiving the Plus updates then sign-up today!

Today I surpassed a big milestone… over 500 uniforms are now included in my Plus update. I completed a few Tampa Bay uniforms today that officially brought the total count to 501. So let’s all just take a moment to pray to your god(s) and be thankful that I am so insanely nerdy…

In even nerdier news, probably the last big update for the 2009 Plus update is going to be available to donors soon. The only updates I can reasonably see the rest of this season will be to complete the All-Star uniforms, and fix anything else that may arise. Other than that, I’m going to guess there won’t be a tremendous amount of updates the rest of the way, maybe only a a couple new uniforms here or there maybe.

As for the forthcoming update, it’s a big one — all teams have now been overhauled to reflect current footwear and batting glove styles for 2009, and several all-new uniforms are included. Expect it to be available to donors this weekend or next week.

2009 Uniforms v4.1 PLUS

The latest 2009 uniform update, v4.1 PLUS, has now been released to donors via email. In fact, it’s probably sitting in your inbox right now. So why are you reading this?

For those of you not receiving the PLUS updates, why not check out the Progress page to see what you’re missing…
